ETC Announces "GIFT"!

Connecting your Remote Offices with VPNs

For this month's newsletter, we discuss VPNs or Virtual Private Networks. Do you have remote offices you'd like to integrate into your home office? What about securely accessing your office from home? All these are possible utilizing VPN technology. ETC Computer Solutions recommends Cisco and Linksys equipment and can configure the units to allow access to your data _inside_ your network. These units provide increased security to your existing network as well. Access spreadsheets, your actual desktop, documents, proprietary software for you business - all from a home computer, roving laptop, or remote office!

Think of the cost savings. If you're currently connected via direct circuit or other type of dedicated costly method, you can switch to lower cost DSL or Wireless from your provider and utilize a virtually private connection. It encrypts all data from location to location.

If you're not currently connected between home or office, think of the advantages. If you're home with a sick child, simply connect with special VPN software and instantly access your internal network as if you were at your office desk. What if you're on the road? More and more hotels offer free internet, you might never miss a beat with VPN access from any location offering internet. Check e-mail, edit documents on your local server and more.
