You might have noticed files created using Office 2007 programs now have an "x" in their file extension. This is because Office 2007 programs use a new file format that includes XML. Due to the new file format, users have run into some compatibility issues which prevents them from opening Office 2007 files in older versions of Office. There are several ways you can prevent these issues. Simply save the documents as an older version of Office or you can change settings within the Office 2007 program.
